Salem Witch Museum logo design was a project that emphasized and focused on developing a logo through type manipulation. I learned various ways to understand the expressive nature of letterforms, typography and semiotics. This project was important in using formal design principles to develop letterforms. The first step of the project was having a type study of the logo name. After coming up with an appropriate typeface and type weight I then constructed a new logo type by hand. I took the original typeface Clarendon and change the look and feel to fit The Salem Witch Museum. I learned to see shapes and forms and why we use appropriate and formal type solutions. Overall my knowledge of typography was reinforced, while developing a successful brand identity.
